These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of AltTextLab.com (the "Site") and the services provided through it, including the web application, public API, browser extensions, CMS and e-commerce integrations, and the Web Snippet (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it, and "you" includes that organization.
You agree that notices and other communications from us may be given electronically, by email, in the app, or on the Site, and that these satisfy any legal requirement for written form.
The Service is intended for adults and businesses. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your password and API keys confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account and must tell us promptly at contact@alttextlab.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
You may not assign or transfer your account to another person or entity without our written consent.
We may refuse registration, suspend an account, or remove content where this is necessary to comply with the law, protect the security of the Service, or respond to a breach of these Terms. Section 11 explains termination and what happens to prepaid fees.
Plans, prices, and credit allowances are shown on our Pricing page. Free plans or trials, where offered, may be limited and may be changed or discontinued.
Paddle as Merchant of Record. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, taxes, invoicing, and transaction-related issues on our behalf, and "Paddle" or "Paddle.com" appears on your payment statement. By purchasing, you agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy.
Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price until you cancel.
Price changes. We may change prices or plan terms. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before a change takes effect. It applies from your next billing period, and you may cancel before then.
Taxes. Prices are shown at checkout, and applicable VAT or sales tax is calculated and collected by Paddle.
Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in your account settings. The subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period and you will not be charged again. Cancellation does not by itself entitle you to a refund of the current period.
When we refund. In addition to any statutory rights, we refund:
How to request. Email contact@alttextlab.com within the eligible period, or use the refund options offered by Paddle. Approved refunds are usually processed within 5–10 business days.
Annual plans. For a prepaid annual subscription, we may at our discretion issue a prorated refund for the unused full months or unused credits.
Consumers. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights, including any right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days where the law grants it. Paddle processes such requests under its Buyer Terms.
Other requests. Subject to the law, we may decline refund requests outside these conditions. If we terminate your account without your breach, you receive a refund for the unused prepaid period (section 11).
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Developer API. You may use the API with your account and your API key. Keep the key confidential. We may throttle, suspend, or revoke access if the API is used in breach of these Terms. For serious or repeated breaches, we may do so without prior notice. Section 11 applies to refunds.
All content on the Site, including text, graphics, code, logos, and software, belongs to AltTextLab or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
The Web Snippet is available only with an active AltTextLab subscription. Without one, new images on your website will not receive automatically generated or applied alt text. Alt texts that were already applied remain on your site only as long as your own site data keeps them; alt texts delivered through the snippet's cache stop being served when the subscription ends.
An account using the Web Snippet may store cached alt texts up to 100 times its monthly credit allowance in total. For annual subscriptions, the monthly allowance is the total annual credits divided by twelve. If you exceed this limit, you will need to upgrade to a plan with a higher monthly allowance to continue using the Web Snippet without interruption. We may monitor and enforce these limits
The Service uses artificial intelligence. To generate alt text, the images or image URLs you submit are sent to third-party AI model providers that act as our subprocessors. The current list is available in the Privacy Policy or on request.
No AI training. We do not use your images, input data, or generated alt texts to train AI models
What we store. We do store the generated alt texts, related image URLs, files and metadata, and your account data, so that you can access your history and so that the Web Snippet can serve cached results. We do not share this data with third parties, except subprocessors strictly needed to provide the Service and where the law requires.
Deletion. You can delete your content in the app. Deletions are permanent and may not be recoverable. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your content within 30 days, except for backups, which are overwritten on a regular cycle, and data we must keep by law.
You keep all rights in the images and other content you submit ("Your Content") and in the alt text generated for you. We claim no ownership of either.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it and that doing so does not infringe the rights of others.
You can link your account to third-party services (such as CMS, e-commerce platforms, or browser extensions). By doing so, you authorize the exchange of the information needed for the integration. We are not responsible for third-party websites and services, which are governed by their own terms.
AI-generated alt text can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for its context. You are responsible for reviewing it before you rely on it or publish it, particularly where accuracy matters (for example legal, medical, or safety-related content).
The Service helps you create alt text. We do not guarantee that using it makes your website, product, or content compliant with WCAG, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the European Accessibility Act, or any other law or standard. Compliance depends on your whole site and how you use it. Nothing in the Service is legal advice.
No warranty. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. This does not affect warranties and rights that cannot be excluded by law, including consumer rights.
Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including indirect or consequential damage, data loss, service interruptions, or lost profits, revenue, or goodwill. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Exceptions. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intentional misconduct, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law. For consumers, mandatory statutory protections remain in force.
Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AltTextLab, its owner, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or of third-party rights. We will notify you promptly of any such claim and cooperate reasonably in its defense. For consumers, this applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law.
Termination by you. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Section 4 applies to cancellation and refunds.
Termination by us. We may update these Terms. The most current version of the Terms is always available on our website, with the date of the latest update shown at the top. If you continue using the Service after the effective date, you accept the changes. If you do not agree, you can cancel subscription.
Changes to the Terms. We may update these Terms. We will notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before material changes take effect and show the date of the latest update at the top of the Terms. If you continue using the Service after the effective date, you accept the changes. If you do not agree, you can cancel before that date.
International use. The Service is operated from Poland, within the European Union. If you use it from another country, you are responsible for complying with local law.
General. If a provision is invalid, the rest of the Terms remain in force. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the DPA (where applicable), and your plan description are the entire agreement between you and us on the Service. You may not assign the Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business. Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control. If translations of these Terms differ, the English version prevails. Notices to us go to contact@alttextlab.com.
